  • School dinners

    Wed 22 Jan 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Can I thank you all for your continued understanding and cooperation with our current boiler fault.  The fault can now be fixed however, we are awaiting confirmation that this will take place on Friday.

With regards to the canteen, Principals are having to carry out a very thorough risk assessment to ensure they can use the kitchen tomorrow to provide a hot meal for all school dinners.  They have reassured us that the necessary steps will be taken so that hygiene is not compromised. As a result I can confirm that there will be hot school dinners tomorrow.  The dinners may vary from the original menu, for example there may be boiled potatoes as opposed to mashed.  Nevertheless, I know you will be pleased to hear this news.

These have been a challenging few days for us all but it just shows what a great team we are when we all work together - children, parents, carers and staff!  Thank you all.

  • Packed Lunches at Oakfield 22nd January

    Tue 21 Jan 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, can I thank you all for your understanding with today's issue in the canteen. For all those parents and carers that managed to provide a lunch for their child it was very much appreciated. Your kind words and support are always received well by all the team at Oakfield.

The engineers have been in school today and the issue has not been resolved due to the scale of the issue. It has been escalated as "urgent" but without the necessary parts and chemicals it remains unresolved. As a result of this, we are not able to provide any school dinners for Nursery to Year 6 for tomorrow. Therefore, EVERY child will need to come into school tomorrow with a packed lunch. Our priority, as is yours as parents and carers, is the health and safety of every child as well as keeping the school open.

This is sadly a situation that is completely out of our hands but I can assure you that specific staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the correct people are dealing with the fault as a matter of urgency. We will inform you again via Parentmail, Facebook and the school website what the situation will be for Thursday 23rd January.

Please do share with as many parents and carers as possible.

Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

  • LUNCH 21ST JANUARY

    Mon 20 Jan 2020

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to a fault that occurred late today, the canteen has been left with no water. Engineers have been unable to fix the fault this evening. As a result the canteen cannot provide any school dinners tomorrow for the entire school - from Nursery to Year 6. Therefore all parents and carers that are expecting a school dinner for their child tomorrow have 2 options:

Option 1: Provide your child with a packed lunch for tomorrow

Option 2: If you are unable to provide your child with a packed lunch for tomorrow and would prefer to keep your child at home then you may do so.

This will not go down as an absence in the register.

We absolutely appreciate this is late notice, but we had to await on the results of an emergency call out. Engineers will be back first thing tomorrow to hopefully fix the issue. These options allow us to ensure the school stays open tomorrow as closing is always a last resort.

Please only call the school if your child is absent due to illness and not because of this issue.

Please share this with as many parents and carers as possible.

We thank you as always for your understanding and support in this situation, which unfortunately is beyond our control.
