6C - Darwin

Welcome to the Class Page of 6C (Darwin)

 

We are looking forward to lots of exciting learning and collaboration this year. Year Six is always a busy time, as we work towards their SATS assessments and prepare the children for secondary transition.

 

We look forward to sharing our class learning with you on this page. Please check below for regular updates, photos and invitations to celebrations of the pupils work.

Staff in 6C - Darwin

Term 6

This term's topic is 'Drug Awareness'. We will be focusing our learning on the different ways in which drugs are used and perceived in the media, as well as highlighting the dangers that can occur both with legal and illegal drugs.

 

Given that this is their last term here with us, our trips and visits will be 'The Jungle Book' production and a trip to Chessington on the 6th July.

 

Please remind your children to complete their Term 6 project on Leeds Castle - if you need another letter which contains all of the details, please just ask at the office.

Term 5

In term 5, Year 6 will be following a unit of work on a theme that focuses on Computing, called '3D Designers'. During this unit we will be focusing on the following subjects; Computing and Internationalism; although Computing will be our main focus.

 

SATS

The week commencing Monday 9th May is when the end of KS2 SATs will be taking place.

Tests will take place on the following days:

Monday 9th May - reading paper

Tuesday 10th May - SPAG paper

Wednesday 11th May - arithmetic paper and reasoning paper 1

Thursday 12th May - reasoning paper 2

 

Please ensure your children get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast before school and arrive on time.

SATs is over!

Term 4

Our topic this term is 'The Holiday Show'. During this topic, we will be focusing our learning on the variety of cultures throughout the United Kingdom and across the globe. There will be a particular focus on the use of land and how humans have altered it in order to survive.

The main subject focus of this topic will be geography; children will be locating the world's countries and using maps to look more closely at Europe and North and South America.

 

On Friday 26th February, we will also become tourists for the day when we explore London on our very own open top bus! Make sure all permission slips are handed into the office by Monday 22nd February.

Term 3

 

Our topic this term is 'Space Explorers'. During this unit we will be focusing on the following subjects: Science, History, Art and Technology, although Science will be our main focus. Please check the IPC section of the school website for ideas for home learning!

Our topic this term is 'AD 900'. We will be focusing our learning on the Mayan, Benin and Islamic civilisations around AD 900. Please check the IPC section of the school website for ideas for home learning.
