Welcome to The Menaces & Minxes
Teacher: Mrs Malone Associate Teacher: Miss Barclay
Welcome to 5B – The Menaces and Minxes! Yes, you’ve guessed it...we are huge fans of The Beano characters and each week look forward to finding out what they have been up to. Check out our class pages for news about our exciting learning journey throughout the coming year.
Our Term 1 topic is ‘Fairgrounds’ and in Science we shall be studying how forces act on everyday life, including keeping our feet on the ground and roller coasters on a track! We will conduct our own Science investigations and also design and make models and games.
M’s & M’s can’t wait to visit Legoland so please look in our Rogues Gallery to see how much fun we have had during our first term.
If you have the chance to further your child’s interest in the ideas of this theme please take it, but your enthusiasm and interest, as well as theirs, is most important. We look forward to working with you!

Term 2 Making New Materials This term we developed our scientific knowledge by working with different materials. We know that all materials exist as a solid, liquid or gas and that some materials can be reversible - like chocolate! During November, we remembered those who sacrificed their lives in the two World Wars, even wearing medals and a beret belonging to a member of staff who was once in the British Army.

Well-Being Support Email
We are pleased to offer a secure and confidential outlet for your child to share some of their thoughts about their well-being. This will work very similarly to the ‘Worry Boxes’ presently in Years 1 to 6 classrooms where children can write their concerns. Simply by emailing, well.being@oakfield.kent.sch.uk your child can confidentially share any thoughts/feelings that are linked directly to their well-being. Emails will be checked daily by a senior teacher who will then offer them solutions.
