Hello everybody,

We are the Mighty Marvels, and welcome to our class page.

It is an exciting time in our first year in Key Stage Two, where our learning topics this year will take us from the dawn of the Dinosaur Age to the Digital Age.  Please take a look at our class page, which will continually be updated giving new information as well as including images of those magical moments in our learning journey that we would love to share with you.

Term 6:

This term in our International Primary Curriculum learning we are following a unit of work called ‘Footprints from the Past’ exploring the prehistoric world of dinosaurs. This particular unit has a strong emphasis on Science, History, Geography and Art.

Previous topics.

Term 1: Gateways to the World.

This term in our International Primary Curriculum learning we are following a unit of work called ‘Gateways to the World’, with a specific focus on airports. During this unit we will pay specific attention to Geography, Art, ICT, Society, Technology and Internationalism. During the term the children will be learning about our travel links with the rest of the world, jobs at an airport and how travel can affect the environment.

Term 2: Land, Sea and Sky.

This term sees the Mighty Marvels become biologists and explore the natural world. We have been focusing on animals, the habitats they live in and how they are adapted to living there. During the term, the children visited London Zoo, and we saw a variety of wonderful animals, how they live and the threats that many of them have been placed under.

All of the work we are going to do has been specially written to help your child reach their learning goals. Children will be reading, researching, writing, illustrating, working on their own and working in groups. We will be checking to see how well your child has learned through particular activities and asking children to explain their work, perhaps to you.

If you have any green ideas or want to know about what we are up to, please email us at: littlegreen.planet@oakfield.kent.sch.uk

Well-Being Support Email

We are pleased to offer a secure and confidential outlet for your child to share some of their thoughts about their well-being. This will work very similarly to the ‘Worry Boxes’ presently in Years 1 to 6 classrooms where children can write their concerns. Simply by emailing, well.being@oakfield.kent.sch.uk your child can confidentially share any thoughts/feelings that are linked directly to their well-being. Emails will be checked daily by a senior teacher who will then offer them solutions.

Where learning, laughter, challenge and community responsibility are encouraged and celebrated!
