5B - Jim Kay
Hello, and a warm welcome from Miss Mant, Mrs Pell and Jim Kay class!
This year is going to be full of challenges for us all as we tackle the new curriculum, work with new people and prepare for year six. However, that does not mean to say that we will not make this year a memorable one. We are going to be learning in engaging and creative ways which will stretch and deepen our existing knowledge even more!
During Term 1 we will be looking at our class name inspiration- Jim Kay. An illustrator who has recently illustrated Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. We will explore his journey from a rough sketch to the finished product. Also, we will be
delving into the world of Harry Potter by reading the book and letting our imaginations take a hold.
Also during Term 1 we will be exploring all things to do with time travel! Which will be very exciting indeed!

Our Time Machines
During DT we have been creating our own time machines! In order for someone to be able to use our time machines we needed to write a set of instructions. Before we wrote our instructions, we needed to be able to identify the language that needs to be included: verbs, adverbs and imperative verbs. During this lesson we listened to songs telling us all about the language. We then, in our table groups, built our own instruction sentences!
