Welcome to Year 4 and Jumping Jellybeans. We have an exciting range of topics to look forward to and I hope you enjoy reading about each of our terms. Please have a look at our photo gallery to see just what we have been doing so far.
Term 1: In our first topic, Temples, Tombs and Treasures, we learned about Ancient Civilisations, in particular the Ancient Egyptians. We really enjoyed our visit to the British Museum and saw some amazing artefacts on display. At the end of the term we put together our own museum and invited visitors in to see our fascinating objects.
Term 2: Our topic for term two was Bright Sparks which focused on Electricity. We were very fortunate to visit Littlebrook Power Station, as it will be closing down soon.
Term 3: Active Planet was such an exciting topic - all about volcanoes and earthquakes. We had a fantastic day with Mr Berry, who came in and taught us about different rocks and how they are formed. To end the topic, we made our own erupting volcanoes.
Term 4: This may have been a short term, but we learned a lot about solids, liquids and gases. We had a visit from a Science Boffin, who showed us some amazing experiments. However, it was making ice cream using dry ice which everyone enjoyed. We also experimented with different flavours for milkshakes.
Term 5: We welcome back Mr Brewster (a student teacher). Our Entry Point involved working together as a team. On Friday 1st May, we had a magical mystery tour around Dartford and practised our map reading skills.

Well-Being Support Email
We are pleased to offer a secure and confidential outlet for your child to share some of their thoughts about their well-being. This will work very similarly to the ‘Worry Boxes’ presently in Years 1 to 6 classrooms where children can write their concerns. Simply by emailing, well.being@oakfield.kent.sch.uk your child can confidentially share any thoughts/feelings that are linked directly to their well-being. Emails will be checked daily by a senior teacher who will then offer them solutions.
