1C - Stephenson​

Welcome to the Class Page of 1C (Stephenson)

Welcome to Year 1 !

We are Stephenson class, named after the famous inventor George Stephenson.

He is famous for inventing the first steam train! 

We are a fun and hardworking class who love learning! On this page we would like to share with you lots of the exciting things that we do! We will also be adding some information to help the grown ups!

Term 5

Our Term 5 Topic is called Flowers and Insects! Throughout this topic we will be doing lots of experiments to find out how plants grow and what they need to survive. We will also be learning about the parts of a plant and the different types of plants in the world. We will also be learning to label the parts of an insect, and going on minibeast hunts outside to see what we can find! We also have an exciting visit from the bee keeper to look forward to!

Term 4

This term our topic is 'Time Travellers'. We will be going back in time to find out about lots of things from the past! We will be dressing up and going on lots of adventures. We will be learning about our own past, as well as travelling to Victorian times, learning about Egyptians and lots more! Keep an eye out for photo's!

Term 3

Our Topic for Term 3 is called 'The Magical Toymaker', which is perfect just after Christmas!

We will be learning all about toys, including the history of toys, how toys are made, how toys move and what toys are made of. This is a very exciting topic and one which every child can definitely contribute to! We will be asking the children what they would like to know about the toys their grown ups played with when they were children, so be prepared for some questions! You may also wish to dig out some old toys of yours! 

This term we have a trip to 'Build a Bear' in Bluewater, where we will get the chance to see exactly how bears are made! 

Term 2 

Our Topic for Term 2 is 'Let's Celebrate'.

During this topic we will be learning all about lots of different celebrations including Bonfire Night, Diwali, Christmas and New Year. Throughout this topic we will be concerntrating on many aspects of the curriculum, including Art, Design and Technology, History and Geography. We have no trips planned for this topic but we will be having lots of fun celebrating in class!
