Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Grant

Pupil Premium was introduced by the Government in April 2011 to provide additional support for “Children in Care” and those from low income families.  This money is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.  We believe passionately that no child should be denied the opportunity to succeed due to their financial starting point in life.

Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources means that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium initiatives at one time.

Every child has the right to feel inspired to achieve academic success and to grow emotionally and socially during their time at Oakfield. With this in mind, we consider the following key areas when looking  to support the progress and achievement of children eligible for the ‘Pupil Premium Funding’.
1Ensuring that teaching and learning across the school is at least of a ‘good’ standard. Robust monitoring ensures that all children are engaged, supported and challenged in order to make excellent progress.
2Seeking to ensure that disadvantaged children attend school with the same regularity as their non-disadvantaged peers.
3Promoting positive behaviour for learning across the school to support an environment which empowers all children to make excellent progress.
4Supporting pupils, parents and carers in order to help them to deal with the pressures of modern life. This may involve support provided by our wider family support team ,including our Family Liasion Officer and our Attendance Officer.
5We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils.
6We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of children who receive the pupil premium funding are adequately assessed and addressed.
7In making provision for pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be disadvantaged.
8We also recognise that not all pupils who are disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being disadvantaged. Intiatives will be considered with the needs of children receiving the pupil premium grant in mind.
