Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is central to providing experience-based education in primary school settings for children.  By organising and improving the use of grounds, buildings and local areas, schools create additional and beneficial teaching and learning resources. The outdoor environment can provide settings for learning that are different to but complement learning indoors. It is an important teaching and learning method rather than a subject in itself and is integrated into planning wherever appropriate to support learning and provide opportunities to encourage engagement.

At Oakfield we believe that children have the right to experience the unique and special nature of being outdoors.  We are committed to enabling our children to use the outside environment as a stimulating learning context wherever possible throughout the year.
